Appalachian White Oak
Appalachian White Oak - Long renowned for strength and classic beauty, White Oak has proven a tremendous success as an interior wood for centuries. Versatile light to medium brown color tones combined with a refined tight distinct grain has helped to make White Oak a natural choice for any setting.
Color - Clear White Oak provides a mostly consistent light brown to medium brown color. The Natural Grade adds slight contrasts in light brown to brown color with some cream colored sapwood. The Distressed Grade adds more color variation with dark mineral boards and heavy naturally occurring features.
Grain - Tight, consistent, open grain with long rays.
Hardness - Very hard and durable. Approximately 5% harder than Red Oak. Resists wear and has a high shock resistance.
Tree Facts - White Oak grows abundantly throughout the Appalachian Region and thrives best in the very highest elevations.
Wood Grades
Clear - A grade above select, Clear White Oak is defect free and offers a mostly consistent color.
Natural - Essentially a floor with an overall average grade equivalent to that of a #1 Common floor. Natural White Oak contains mineral streaking, color variation and tight knots and will include an occasional more clear and more lightly distressed feature to give the appearance of a “Natural look”.
Naturally Distressed - Naturally occurring Distressed features, such as bark pits, open knots, heart shake and worm holes combined with burls and occasional circle saw marks give an appearance of century old flooring.
